TYPICAL TERMS FOR CHARTERS

Although terms may vary by barges, here is what is typical.

Cancellations: all deposits and payments are non-refundable unless the reserved space is resold. If it is sold at a full or discounted price, the proportionate refund will be made. These conditions are standard in the European barging industry. We strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance at the time of initial booking.

Deposit
A deposit of 30% is due when you book, with the balance falling due 90 days prior to commencement of your holiday.
Cancellation by you
Within 90 days - If you cancel your cruise within 90 days of its start date, you will lose your deposit. The balance less any bank charges, will be refunded ONLY if your dates are resold at the same rate paid by you. If we resell your date at a lower amount, your refund will be reduced by the discount we applied to attract the new booking.
div> More than 90 days - If you cancel your cruise more than 90 days prior to the start of your cruise, your deposit will be refunded ONLY if the date is resold. If your date is not resold, you will lose your deposit.

TRAVEL INSURANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

The group is booking barge charter and not individual passenger booking, such as on a cruise ship and is liable for the cost of charter.  Some minor discounts may be available if someone has to cancel.

Unforeseen circumstances always seem to happen - hopefully, not for this charter.  Nevertheless, everyone agrees at booking that if someone is unable to go on the trip:
   - those unable to go surrender their deposit, regardless
   - the remaining group will attempt to find a replacement,
   - the remaining group will go on the trip, and
   - the individuals unable to go will pay their share of the expenses as if they went (less any reductions due to a lower passenger count)

Participants can purchase travel cancellation insurance. If purchased at booking is reasonable (about $500 pp).
Everyone is advised to purchase Medical and eVac insurance.  SQUAREMOUTH provides a great way to taylor insurance to one's personal needs.

ADDITIONAL TRAVEL EXPENSES

To avoid potential delays due to airline issues and to acclimate to the time change. one should anticipate arriving a day earlier and spending the evening (typically Saturday night at the pickup/dropoff point).  In some cases, such as depature in Dijon, we'll have additional transfer expenses.
